Prof. Beedu Sashidhar Rao, PhD.

Prof. Beedu Sashidhar Rao, worked as a Sr. Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. He superannuated from the University service on 30th September, 2018. He had served the Uni. as the Chairman & Coordinator, Forensic Science, Chairman, BOS, Biochemistry, Nutrition and HOD, Dept. of Biochemistry. He has also coordinated two major university R & D programmes- PURSE I & II, sponsored by DST and CPEPA by UGC, at OU, with a sanctioned grant of Rs. 199 millions. He has authored 5 books and has published over 130 research papers in IF journals. Has an H-index of 29, and I10 index of 70, with over 3350 citations. Further, he was actively engaged in research and teaching PG students for the past three decades with  research interests in the area of i) Food toxicology ii) Immunodiagnostics iii) Nanobiotechnology. He had received grants from National (DST, DBT, ICMR, CPRI, ICAR, CSIR, DAE & UGC) and International (ACIAR-Australia, ICRISAT) agencies to the tune of Rs. 20 millions. Fifteen students have received Ph.D degree under his guidance, three students have received M.Phil. degree and more than 16 PDF’s (UGC-Kotari, DST-YSS & Women scientist,  ICMR-PDF, DBT-PDF, CSIR Sr.PDF) were associated with him. He also served as consultant to Govt. agencies and Biotech & Drug industries.

 

He was earlier drafted as a consultant to FAO, United Nations, Rome, and is a scientific panel member (since 2009-present) to Food Safety Standards Authority of India, (FSSAI), Govt. of India, since the year 2009. He was elected as fellow of Telangana Academy of Sciences, in 2016. He is a recipient of the Telangana State Best Teacher award and gold medal for the year 2018.
